Messi’s love for her started in early childhood.

When Messi was a kid, he dreamt of being a soccer player. On the other hand, he had another dream: Antonella.

He once wrote in a letter: “Antonella. One day, we will get engaged.” That was the beginning of their love story.

Lionel was born in 1987 in Rosario, Argentina. Antonella Roccuzzo was born in 1988. They first met at Lucas Scaglia’s home, a friend of Messi’s. They became friends, but Messi knew he wanted her forever.

They faced many obstacles.

When he was 11, Messi went to Spain, and they were separated. They had a solid relationship, even though being far apart made them lose contact.

You cannot escape fate, though. A tragedy brought them back together. A friend of Antonella’s died in 2005 in a traffic accident.
