Tight and tense duel between Joe Biden
and Donald Trump: follow the results of the American elections 2020 live
The President of the United States claimed victory and
threatened to appeal to the Supreme Court, while the vote count is still
underway in several states. In response, Democrats denounced an
"undisguised effort to deprive American citizens of their rights."
Associated Press Responds to Donald Trump's Claims of
Victory in North Carolina and Georgia
The agency, which is the authority on outcome
projections for the US presidential elections, published two texts in response
to the comments of Donald Trump, who claimed to have won the polls in North
Carolina and Georgia:
In North Carolina: "We have clearly won in North
Carolina, where we are ahead by 1.7%, or 77,000 votes with about 5% [of
uncounted ballots]. They can't catch us," said the Republican President
from the White House. "If Trump does have a 76,000 vote lead in this state
on Wednesday morning, it is too early to confirm [his victory] and there are
still nearly 200,000 ballots to count (...) Postal votes can be taken in counts
through Nov. 12, and [in this area], Biden is far ahead of Trump. "
In Georgia: “We clearly won Georgia. We are ahead of
2.5% or 117,000 [votes] with only 7% "of votes to count," Donald
Trump also said. "It is too early to confirm" a victory, underlines
again AP, "we estimate 4% of ballots not counted, including two districts
that Joe Biden is in the process of winning", continues the agency, which
specifies finally that "several Atlanta ridings also halted their counts
after encountering technical difficulties. "
The schedule of projections by State:
In Wisconsin (10 major voters), where 89% of the
ballots are already counted, the count of the remaining votes is expected for
Wednesday morning on site, that is to say at the end of the afternoon in
France;
The state of Michigan (16) should not communicate
clear results before Wednesday evening, overnight in France. 77% of ballots
have currently been counted;
Pennsylvania and its 20 Grand Voters will be set for
good on Friday night, although a pretty definite idea of who will win should
emerge before then. 74% of the votes are counted;
The verdict could be quickly announced in North
Carolina (15), where 95% of the votes were counted, even if reception of the
postal votes is accepted until November 12;
The situation is similar in Georgia, where 92% of the
votes are already known: the result could arrive Wednesday evening in France.
The state, traditionally republican, has 16 electors;
Ultimately, Nevada (6) counted 79% of its ballots; the
reception of postal votes is still possible until November 10, and the result
may not be known until the weekend.
