Moscow unveils the first laptop 100% "Made in Russia"
Russia has just unveiled the first 100% “Made in Russia” laptop. Indeed, faced with the embargo of the main IT giants who decided to boycott Russia after the invasion of Ukraine, Russian industry is working to manufacture its own smartphones or computers.
It is in this context that the firm Promobit is preparing to produce a laptop called Bitblaze Titan BM15, all the components of which are Russian. It will be aimed at government and business.
As the firm is deprived of AMD or Intel chips, the laptop will use an in-house "Baikal-M" processor, the company says, noting that this chip is based on an octa-core architecture with ARM cores Cortex-A57 that can each reach up to 1.5 GHz.
The graphics part adopts the Mali-T628 MP8 GPU core at a frequency of 750MHz. It supports dual channel DDR4-2400 or DDR3-1600 memory. The laptop has a 15.6-inch screen capable of displaying images in 1.080p. Under the keyboard, a 512 GB SSD and 16 GB of RAM.
So it's pretty high end. For wireless connectivity, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as well as USB 3.0, HDMI, USB-C and even RJ-45 sockets that we hardly see anymore. For autonomy, a 6,000 mAh battery will do.
In terms of finish, the manufacturer announces two models: the classic in aluminum alloy and a more luxurious one in titanium alloy. Finally, obviously not Windows, nor Chrome OS, but Linux. The manufacturer plans to manufacture 1,000 in the coming months, for the government and Russian companies, with prices between 100,000 and 120,000 rubles, or between 1,500 and 1,900 euros.
