Angelina Jolie is suing her ex Brad Pitt
The war waged against each other by the ex-couple formed by Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt for a French wine estate reaches new heights.
Angelina Jolie is suing Brad Pitt for $250 million over the Provencal Château Miraval vineyard.
According to court documents filed Sept. 6 in Los Angeles, the actress claims her ex-husband and a gang of pals launched an underhanded campaign to “take control” of the winery they bought as a couple “in retaliation. to divorce and custody proceedings" and to "ensure that Jolie would never see a dime" of her huge profits.
Angelina Jolie also claims Brad Pitt tried to use the actress' large financial stake in Chateau Miraval to force her to sign a 'silence clause' that would prevent her from discussing the circumstances that led to their divorce. and that the actor squandered millions of the company's money on "vanity projects," including more than $1 million for a swimming pool.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie bought the 526-hectare property in the south of France in 2008. According to documents presented to the court, each star owned 50% each through various companies, and that "a large part of the fortune Jolie's personal life" was linked to the winery.
We also learn that the couple had an agreement according to which the actress would supervise their humanitarian projects, in particular the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, while "supervision of the couple's investment in Château Miraval was left in the hands of Pitt" .
Last spring, it was Brad Pitt who accused Angelina Jolie of “evil intentions” by having sold her stake in Château Miraval to a Russian industrialist.
In her complaint filed in court yesterday, Angelina Jolie defends herself on this point.
“Although Jolie was not obligated to sell [her stake] to Pitt, she nevertheless offered to sell her stake to him and negotiated with him for months. As a deal was about to be struck, Pitt's hubris took over: He demanded onerous and irrelevant terms at the last minute, including a provision to ban Jolie from speaking publicly about the events that led to the breakdown of their marriage. Pitt knew that much of Jolie's wealth and cash was tied to [her winery stake] and used that fact to try to coerce Jolie into agreeing to her unreasonable terms."
The couple married in a chapel on the estate in 2014. Since 2016, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have clashed at all levels in court.
